I don’t necessarily disagree, but it’s not a lost cause. We CAN get back to our roots, but we need government to get the Hell out of the way of everything and let the market dictate the terms.

Amen. And, actually, there are lots Americans who are getting their weight under control.

OTOH, the government has almost always made a mess of everything. Obama is proving that point daily (much to his own chagrin).
