In all your years as ATC, have you ever seen a high horsepower (high weight) performance aircraft with with tiny cylindrical spring steel landing gear and no wheel fairings ?
Have you ever seen a plane like that hit the runway and bounce up twice into the air at a speed too low to promote lift ?

Yes, I have.
And I've seen some Beechcraft 1900 pilots take some pretty bad ribbing for bouncing some of their landings.
I had the misfortune of being on a DC-9 flight that bounced a landing at Jackson MS airport one time, and the stewardesses were laughing at the co-pilot for such a bad landing.
The captain came up over the PA and apologized to the passengers for his "student's first landing in a DC-9.
Then there was the Stretch DC-8 at Osan, that came in too fast and too high, and rolled his right main gear up under the strut, and skidded into the departure end BAK-12.
That Aluminum-Oxide strut made on hell of a fire until it stopped skidding.
It took 8 hours to get our runway opened again.

I wish you could watch Champion Aerobatic Pilot Patty Wagstaff preform her act that she flew at March AFB.
She could do things with an RV that most pilots could only dream of.
Champion Aerobatic Pilot Patty Wagstaff - Moving Art ( 7:01 ) Published on Sep 12, 2006
A Moving Art original short.
Another interesting person I've met:Patty Wagstaff is a national treasure.
She is the first woman to have won the National Aerobatic Championship,
and the only woman to have won it THREE times.
Aerobatic flying is an art and a skill that would cause most of us to blow lunch in the first minute or so.
She is a role model for all of us.
Plus, you gotta love the hair!
