“More Jews than a Chinese restaurant on Christmas,” says the text with a photograph of a fortune cookie, referring to a common choice for Jews. “Find someone who shares your love of gefilte fish,” says another. “Shiksappeal is overrated,” says another, using a Yiddish term for non-Jewish women, shiksa, that some consider derogatory. “Find someone who wasn’t on your Birthright trip,” says yet another ad, referring to Birthright Israel, an organization that provides free trips to Israel for young Jews.

I would never have dated a girl (woman) who wasn’t nice, smart, college educated, beautiful, fit, wants children, and comes from a good observant family -— and who wants to stay home and raise the children (at least through elementary age).
They have similar high expectations.
