PITTSBURGH -- Tyler Ennis took the inbounds pass with 4.4 seconds left and dribbled up court, weaving through Pitt's defense. He had the option of shooting or passing to Trevor Cooney.

The Syracuse freshman guard decided to shoot.

It was the right decision.

Ennis made the 35-footer at the buzzer and No. 1 Syracuse remained unbeaten with a 58-56 victory over No. 25 Pittsburgh on Wednesday night.

''I saw someone ran over to Trevor and I just had to beat one guy,'' Ennis said. ''I knew they weren't going to let Trevor get it. I just had to get some space. I knew I could get open for a second.''

Syracuse (24-0, 11-0 ACC) and Wichita State are the lone undefeated teams in Division I.

Why do they NEVER put a man on the inbounds passer?

Agreed - pressure the inbounds passer! Also - 4.4 seconds left, Syracuse has no timeouts, and Dixon calls a timeout, allowing Syracuse to set up a play. Stupid move. Dixon blew it.

Watch the video when Ennis is getting mobbed by his teammates on the baseline by the Pitt student section. At about the :18 mark, when the announcer says “at the buzzer” and just before they show the replay of the shot. You can see a Pitt fan flipping Ennis the bird with both barrels. It sure was a great game to be on the winning end of.

Syracuse’s nickname is the Orange. They should have picked the grapefruit, the banana or the kiwi fruit.

I saw that on SportsCenter. Great play, and the undefeated season marches on.

SportsCenter had Seth Greenberg agreeing with the TO to set the defense. He said only a great play by Ennis won it, not the Pitt D. Jay Williams disagreed.

Yep - well if Boeheim had a TO left - he sure would have used it. So why give him what HE needed, when you didn’t have to? In this situation, I think having the opportunity to set up an offensive play is more important than setting up the defense. I’m a HS basketball coach, and I thought it was dumb of Dixon at the time. I sure would have taken my chances letting them try to go the length of the court with 4.4 seconds to go and NOT getting a chance to talk it over first.

P.S. I like your tagline - would love to hear someone do an update on that old Neil Young song:

Terrorists here and Obama’s not coming. We’re totally on our own. Soldiers are gunning us down. Should have been done long ago. How can you run when you know? What if you knew him and found him dead on the ground? Four dead in Benghazi.

Hello Well I barely know an X from an O so I thought the pros and cons was interesting. Still, Pitt had him take a 30 footer so the odds were still in their favor, Ennis just make a great play.

Second great Syracuse game I’ve see, the Duke one was classic.

PS I actually stole the Tagline from a post here several weeks ago :)

It sure was a heck of a finish! I didn’t see it but saw the highlights on ESPN. Don’t have ESPN at the house I am in now. Mine is getting renovation work.... Lots of it. I’ll send you some pictures but won’t inundate you.
