I would go a bit further and say that if the “religion” tells you that you will always be a follower of it, whether you like it or not, it is a cult.

Based on that definition, Christianity is a cult because once you are born-again by an act of the Holy Spirit you are a Christian for eternity.
“And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”
