An English boy with limited mobility formed a special bond with a three-legged dog nobody else wanted, and now their story is becoming a book.

Owen Howkins, 7, suffers from Schwartz-Jampel syndrome, a rare genetic condition that leaves his muscles in a permanent state of tension.

Owen's mother learned about Haatchi online. The Italian shepherd had been tied to a railroad track where he was hit, and his tail and one leg had to be amputated. Owen's family adopted the dog, and Haatchi and Owen formed a bond straight away.

So the previous owners tried to kill the dog by tying it to the tracks? Seems the sign of an increasingly sociopathic mindset. If they decided they could not handle the dog anymore, could they not have given it up for adoption or at the very least given it a sort of injection so it could die peacefully as opposed to being hit by a train while tied up?

Unfortunately there are a lot of cruel people out there.

I personally think that those who are cruel to animals are unfit humans.

Fortunately there are also a lot of caring, decent ones.

Who are these people that have a soul so dark and evil they can do these things to the most innocent? I praise God it was an endearing conclusion.

Might not have been the previous owner, might just have been some butthole(s) doing it for kicks.

A lot of dogs have better souls than humans.

And this kid (if not others as well) has a better soul than me.
