When it comes to taking calls they simply can’t get into the business of second-guessing calls before they actually get there.

911 does it all the time -- they qualify calls.

They are the Fire Department not the Zipper Department or Garment Department.

Are they going to come over to help someone get dressed in the morning, and cook breakfast and tuck them in at night if they call. Tell them to call their neighbor, or their son or daughter or caregiver.

They are there for emergency purposes only and zippers are not emergency.

I had a neighbor who called the fire department because he needed a piece of equipment they had to look into his oven. 11 firetrucks showed up along with ambulance, police cars, fire chiefs car -- all so he could use a piece of their equipment.

It took over an hour for all those vehicles to maneuver their way back out. None were upset as it was budget time and they needed all the calls they could muster to justify their budget.

"Who should they have called?"

When it comes to zippers, there's really only one man for the job...

I like how this guy eased the burden on emergency services:

Sorry, Harry is dead.
