urors in the trial of a white Florida man who fatally shot a black teenager over loud music said on their fourth day of mulling the case that they reached a verdict on four of five counts, but cannot come to a consensus on one count of first-degree murder.

Michael Dunn, 47, says he was acting in self-defense when he shot at an SUV 10 times while parked next to four teens at a Jacksonville, Fla., gas station in November 2012.

The shots killed Jordan Davis, 17, of Marietta, Ga. Dunn is charged with first-degree murder, three counts of attempted murder and one count of firing a deadly missile into an occupied vehicle.

I wonder if NBC would be so quick to label the races of those involved had the roles been reversed.

Yeah, I fantasize at times about the baseball bat approach.

On one hand the moron who shot them deserves a murder verdict. OTOH, I don’t really give a tinker’s damn about the victims either. You make it your goal to go around and piss off as many people as you can, you deserve what ensues. Too bad, so sad, just a little impromptu cleansing of the gene pool.

You have a right to make stupid decisions. You also have the right to suffer the consequences of those stupid decisions.

I vote for acquittal. Sick of boom boxers forcing their evil crap on everyone around them.

Good God...what a foolish attitude.Call the cops? Yah,maybe.Give them dirty looks? Maybe.Fire several shots into their vehicle? Gimme a break.

Tactically, this is fascinating. To start with, practically he was facing *seven* charges, as for the first count, the jury could have reached a verdict for Murder 1, Murder 2 *or* Manslaughter. Ordinarily I would suspect a “jury nullification” vote, but something is odd. On the other charges, the *attempted* murder charges of the other passengers, he could face 20 years on each charge. And the jurors all agreed on those counts (likely not guilty). However, if just one juror had been nullifying the first count, the pro-conviction jurors could have “counter-nullified” the other charges, forcing them into a retrial as well. They likely would have done so, if they were in a bad mood. This makes me suspect that *most* of the jurors wanted to acquit on count 1, but just one or two demanded conviction.

I read this differently. They wouldn't acquit on minor charges and hang only on Murder 1. I suspect they convicted on all the other counts and are only hung as to whether the first count is Murder 1 or Murder 2.

But we should know pretty soon.

You’re gonna take on FOUR urban yuts at night? Say you give them a “dirty” look. You leave and they follow you to your hotel. They don’t get out, but they know the car you drive and where you’re staying.

What do you do then?

90% of the time, it’s best to just move on without saying a word. If the person with the booming music really had a concern for his fellow man, he wouldn’t be playing his choice of music in such an obnoxious manner in the first place.

Let his future need for a hearing aid be payment enough.

Where I come from, “twitches” like Zimmerman abound: middle-aged white men, insecure, television-saturated and possessing failing personal lives. They’re unstable and dangerous.

Begs the question, where do you come from?

Are you suggesting the white homicide rates VS blacks are higher where you come from?

Find another hotel, once they leave. Call the cops if they don’t appear to be leaving.

I walk away from sooooo many that tick me off nowadays...Never know if the thug has a gun..or just some person who is carrying and not very together. We have had several people killed in road rage incidents. I say, let them drive on, cut me off, give me the finger...I will be the one going home tonight.

Chances are, with their rage, something will happen to them, ie car crash, someone else shoots them, or they run into a tree. All those possibilities are better than me getting shot cause I felt insulted or angry.

sometimes, I just make the sign of the cross...THAT really gets to them..they just freeze and roll on as they try to figure it out.ha.

I’m still trying to figure out why so many people think they have a right to not have to hear other people’s music when they are in a public parking lot.

I’m guessing most of these people think it is OK for them to play music in their car; they would probably also say they never play it too loud, and that nobody would ever dislike it anyway.

So I see two problems — first, their insistence that other people’s freedom doesn’t include the freedom to play loud music in a public parking lot in their own car, and second, their insistence that the penalty for doing so should be death.

Never underestimate the psychological impact of Travon/Martin on this case. Not sure these jurors wanted to have that hanging on their heads.

Also, this case was a must win for Angela Corey for reelection purposes after the travon case.

Dunn has just been found guilty on all counts except first degree murder, where the jury deadlocked. See:

I walk away from things that bug me because, in general, I don’t see why I should be the king of the public space. I’m sure I’ve done things in public that bug other people, like singing off-key. I’d hate to get shot for it.

FR has lots of gun grabbers as well as assorted other left wing types.

You are correct about that.
