President Obama Doesn’t Know How to Create Jobs, and a Minimum Wage Increase Won’t Help
American Legislator ^ | 2-15-14 | Cara Sullivan

President Obama’s big government philosophy has created an economic environment hostile to job growth and economic prosperity. He says he is committed to “shovel ready jobs,” yet onerous regulations from his agencies delay projects from moving forward and shackle businesses with costs that prevent them from expanding. His signature legislation—The Affordable Care Act—has led some employers to slash hours and freeze hiring, and may lead employees to voluntarily reduce their own hours or leave the workforce altogether. Now it appears that the President is doubling down. His newest plan to help Americans is to raise the minimum wage, a proposal that would likely destroy job opportunities for those who need them most. The policies coming from the White House all seem to say the same thing: President Obama does not know how to allow the private sector to create jobs.

Is this the same Cantor, that allowed Paul Ryan to reduce military benefits?

Yes it is.

Everything which would create jobs is against Obama’s principles.

Thank you for referencing that article ThethoughtsofGreg. Please bear in mind that the following critique is directed against the article and not at you.

Regarding the title of the referenced article, even if a president knows how to create jobs, it remains that the states have never delegated to the feds, via the Constitution, the specific power to find remedies for unemployment, the states having the 10th Amendment protected power to individually find their own remedies for umemployment.

On a related note, with the exception of the federal entities indicated in the Constitution's Clauses 16 & 17 as examples, entites which are under the exclusive legislative control of Congress, neither have the states ever delegated to the feds, via the Constitution, the specific power to regulate a national minimum wage. Only the states have the power to regulate intrastate minimum wage. Corrupt Congress has been exploiting the misconception of a national minimum wage for decades, likely to win votes from low-information voters.

But also note that if the states should ultimately decide that it would be appropriate for Congress to regulate a national minimum wage, then the states can always delegate to Congress, via constitutonal amendment, the specific power to do so.

No politician “creates” any significant number of jobs. Their campaigns may temporarily create a few, but in office, they have what the office entitles them to. If they “create jobs”, they are doing it with the wealth of others (in tax revenues). What they CAN do, is create an ENVIRONMENT where wealth, and JOBS, can be created. This, of course, is an alien concept to Obama. Just today, the EPA set impossible goals for light trucks to meet - which will be doable only with fantastically expensive technology or exotic and potentially rare/exhaustible materials, making the trucks too expensive to own - which, of course, is the real reason for the rule.

No problem, most people who own one, don’t need one anyway.

I wish Obama could understand even one simple fact about the real world:

If you penalize something you get less of it, so raising the minimum wage, which raises the cost of hiring people, will mean fewer jobs.

I suspect that the few sensible liberals understand this, which is why they didn’t mention the minimum wage during Obama’s first two years - if they had allowed that issue to arise, they would have had to follow through. All they want is to blame republicans for not following through on a bad idea that the few sensible liberals don’t want to do either.
