Somebody correct me if I’m wrong. I read the article and never saw a breed mentioned.
If this “Police officer” can’t handle a doggie “lunging” at him, HOW on earth is he supposed to handle HUMAN criminals- armed or otherwise???
I mention this on all these stories. I was a mailman for 10 years and had many many run-ins with stray dogs. Yes, some even “lunged” at me. BIG deal! I dropped my mailbag on their head and they ran.
I have NEVER been trained on how to deal with hostile animals. By gosh, I simply used COMMON SENSE.
This police state we’re now living in is insane. Folks, today it’s family pets; tomorrow, it’ll be ANYONE the cops want to say are “questionable”.

I’ve had 100+ lb dogs lunge at me. Was not easy to handle, but handled it.

The usual excuse: He feared for his safety. He should be prosecuted for discharging a firearm in a residential area.
I’ve never heard of a postal employee or a Jehovah’s Witness or a Mormon missionary killing any dogs.
It’s time every mayor and city manager inform their police chiefs and for every sheriff to inform his deputies that killing dogs will not be tolerated. Issue them bear spray.
I know there are GOOD Cops out there, but for the love of Pete, when are these Cowards going to be trained? Dogs sense fear and hostility.. Dog rescuers don’t kill dogs.. It’s all attitude when approaching dogs.. I’m so sick of this crap. No one who can do something about it will. Speak Out!
