In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

misoneism \ mis-oh-NEE-iz-uhm, mahy-soh- \ , noun
hatred or dislike of what is new or represents change.

Example sentences:
But it is necessary to note that hereditary anomaly, if it provokes an anomaly in the moral sense, also suppresses misoneism, the horror of novelty which is almost the general rule of humanity.
-- Joseph Conrad, The Secret Agent, 1907

...he saw he was the only one to stand ready for the new thing, because the others were all exhibiting symptoms of misoneism.
-- Brian Aldiss, Brian Aldiss, 1967

Etymology:
Misoneism comes from the Greek miso- + neos meaning "hatred" and "new."

The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Have a good flight back-

Those who think they suffer
From misoneism are so wrong-
History has a hundred verses
Of the same political song

No matter who the looters are
The MO is always the same-
Tax and steal from anyone who
Has even a dollar to their name

Until their scheme collapses
And everything starts to burn-
People and courts say enough
But the greedy will never learn...

Nike wasted their $ for sure. Who would buy the loser uniform? No one after that loss.

I’m having a twilight zone experience with AT&T-apparently, the number of my land line is not mine, and I do not exist here, but somewhere else entirely-I’ve been on my cell with them for nearly 45 minutes, and 3 “customer service” reps, 3 times on hold, 5 f’ bombs and other assorted profanities later, I’m still holding for someone who has a clue...

If it’s not cut with fentanyl it might work, however I know a medic who was on scene with a live patient and he died even with Narcan. Not the dream drug they think it is.

Madre de Dios-sad indeed, but it leaves me shaking my head...

My first husband was always willing to participate in events for our parish church and charities, and was a nice person, for the most part-none of that was affected by his cheating. But any time someone would ask him what he thought would happen if people didn’t go to jail for doing hard drugs, and wouldn’t go to rehab-he always shrugged and said in that case, they would become a self-cancelling problem and save the rest of us heartache and money. A lot of people thought he was being cruel, but then I guess I am too, because it always made sense to me.

I worked with too many drug addicted clients who had no intention of stopping to feel bad for them-they cost the workers comp insurance carrier tons of money, raised the employer’s experience rate, seldom got clean or returned to work post-injury-and a lot of them did end up in jail, making me have to go do follow-up at the damn prison to the west of the city-hated it...

I would imagine that anyone working with the drug addicted would become fairly inured to their plight after awhile. Guess I’m sheltered bc I’ve never known an addict.

You are most fortunate, and not missing a thing...

A lot of those comp clients would claim they got addicted to pain meds as a result of work-related injury, which would make addiction secondary to their injury so that workers comp would pay for up to 60 days of rehab plus raise the percentage of disability. In fact most of them had been doing drugs for years-they just didn’t get busted till they tried to refill their pills one too many times. They were also very manipulative-more so than the non-addicted comp clients-I learned to really, really dislike them...
