Texas senators split Tuesday on whether to let the Senate start debating a sweeping immigration overhaul plan.
Both are unhappy with the Gang of Eight bill as currently written, but Sen. Ted Cruz joined other conservatives in trying to block Senate consideration an attempt that failed on 82-15.
Sen. John Cornyn and two dozen other Republicans, including Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., joined Democrats to clear the way for debate to begin.
I cant think of a more appropriate topic for Congress to engage in than to fix our broken immigration system, said Cornyn, the deputy GOP leader.

Cornyn voted for Amnesty before he voted against it.
Our immigration system is not broken, it’s just not enforced.
Why should our representatives not merely reinstitute the lawful system, rather than try to cobble together a new one of which only illegal residents will approve?

Nothing to debate on immigration just enforce the law.
