Reparations have always been paid for injustices but those reparations weren't levied on the people as a whole. Reparations are to be paid by the guilty, in this case the guilty is dead and that needs to be where it ends. Sure its unfair to the families of the victims but life is unfair.

You have to admit that the State of Connecticut has armed Guards posted at the Capitol Building to protect the legislators and everyone else in the building from being attacked by crazed gunmen, but they declare their schools gun free zones and refuse to allow even the most minimal of armed protection for children who, by law, are forced to be locked up in these unprotected facilities for 6 to 8 hours a day.

The State of Connecticut and the School Districts were clearly negligent. They owed a duty to protect these charges and they deliberately and wantonly failed to do so.

I would have to award punitive damages.

If I could, I would direct the punitive damages to be paid to fund armed security to all schools in Connecticut and to purchase weapons for distribution to NRA trained teachers.

If you read the article you would know that they owed more on the house than it was worth. And though at first glace $50,000 in cash seems like a lot, that might be less than a few months of reserves for a family that is highly leveraged with expensive tastes.

The United Way took in over $15 million on this scam. Each individual family also had not only their own contribution website up and running (some even prior to the supposed shooting!!) but also were part of the SH website. Some families have taken in hundreds of thousands of dollars. Not to mention each family receiving several hundred thousand from the WH.

Now tell me. Why do these families need anything????????????????? Must have been either the most expensive funerals in the history of the world or HUSH money. Maybe Obama should send us all a big check every time we lose a family member………………………...

I agree that a rational person would say that Connecticut failed in their duty to protect, and they advertised that the schools were unprotected, and they protected other vulnerable areas adequately.

So, I believe there’s a case that could be made.

It’s a case that could be won in Texas but probably lost anywhere in the Northeast. Northeasterners believe guns in schools are the evil...not murderers in schools.

I’m sure that in the fine print of accepting this money that the families agreed not to sue the School District, the Newtown Police, the state police, etc.

They don’t want it to come out in court that while the Newtown police were chasing a parent into the woods and waiting for the state police to arrive, they were hearing all those shots coming from the school as Lanza was entering the second classroom.
