Police chief forced to apologize over comments (Austin jogger)

Austin police chief Art Acevedo has issued an apology for comments he made during a press conference yesterday concerning the arrest of a female jogger near the University of Texas campus on Thursday.

Acevedo dismissed the controversy over police handling of a jaywalking jogger, saying 'Cops are actually committing sexual assaults on duty so I thank God that this is what passes for a controversy in Austin, Texas.'

Today, he released a statement saying that he was trying to put the arrest of jogger Amanda Jo Stephen 'into context by bringing attention to the fact that law enforcement deals with many acts of serious misconduct' including recent cases of police officers sexually assaulting civilians.

'In hindsight I believe the comparison was a poor analogy, and for this I apologize,' reads his statement.

I feel safer now that J-walking is prohibited in Austin.

There is jaywalking and then safe jaywalking (like looking both ways before crossing a one-way street in case a cop car is going the wrong way or blowing a stop sign or light).

This police chief should have kept his mouth shut because he is obviously an idiot. A spokesgal should have done the PR instead

‘She did the limp routine, and in 28 years of law enforcement, I can tell you it happens all the time,’ Acevedo said.

They teach the limp routine for hindering kidnappers as well as screaming and wailing at the top of your lungs.

She apparently was following her ‘training’. And it worked partially... She got a lot of attention and was on Youtube.

Funny...I didn't see those two fat, LEO thugs doing anything to de-escalate the situation.

Papieren, bitte!

I’m always impressed when people manage to say something that insults and offends all sides in a controversy.

I mean that takes talent.

Read SCOTUS case: http://www.casebriefs.com/blog/law/criminal-procedure/criminal-procedure-keyed-to-israel/arrest-search-and-seizure/atwater-v-city-of-lago-vista/

since she was jaywalking she has a valid arrest. same EXACT THING happened to me but in my case cop did not witness and it was an “intersection” giving me a loophole in jaywalk charge. I was on foot with my ID locked in trunk of my car. Told cop that but argued with him about my detainment...started filming...refused to sit on curb...got arrested.Had to get an ACLU-type lawyer to pursue a 1983 case.We shall see. BTW...conservative ruling set us up for just this kind of thing....Its all because of that ruling above.

Wasn’t it Austin abuut two weeks ago where a gang of black guys attacked three hippie dudes in front of a police station for about twenty minutes? I’m pretty sure that one went national.

I bet some of those guys illegally ran across the street to kick in their unconcious victims heads. Where were the four cops then?

And you’d be fine getting harassed by cops, if you were in her shoes?

Cuz you never jay walk.

These cops were being @$$es!

You want to defend this foul mouthed clueless privileged little princess bimbette — have at it:

She crossed the street without waiting to the light to switch which can get you a ticket in any big city — except in the minds of jogging bimbettes I guess.

She was ordered by the police to stop but she refused blaming it later on her prisssy earbuds. Try that next time you are ticketed for failing to pull over for a siren ans see how far it gets you.

When the officer caught up with her and grabbed her arm she pushed his arm away which is called resisting arrest.

She then does the limp routine, falls to the ground sobbing and weeping and when asked for her name she refuses to give it which will get anyone arrested on the spot.

Then she curses at the top of her lungs at the police: ‘I didn’t f***ing do anything wrong!’

Really !!!!

And you think like this little brat that she did nothing wrong???

Really!!!

Hey boot licker, have you even seen the video? Donut man ran up behind her and grabbed her arm from behind. Grab my arm from behind, surprise me, and I’d pull away too!

“To Protect and Serve” is just a motto. Has the same legal and obligation weight as the Oakland Raider’s motto “Just Win Baby”...come to think of it both promise positive results but often ‘the fan’ comes out bruised, battered and a loser.

Protect and serve in college towns is all about staking out underage drinking and raiding greek parties to up the revenue for the lawyers and city by issuing tickets. These kids have almost completely stopped driving after drinking so the cops ticket them when they are walking home after a night out for public drinking. It’s insane and out of control in college towns. I think drug use is way up among college students because of the ridiculous drinking age of 21.

A suggestion — Engage brain before spontaneously ranting about peace officers!

A suggestion---direct some of your indignation, not to mention your overfed police resources, to kicking the ass of a few of the thousands of Mexicans crossing your southern border, rather than some blonde nitwit in a track suit.

Just a thought from the northern border.

Here’s the you tube of the screaming bimbette’s arrest:

Was there some reason that you were afraid to post it and chose recriminations instead???
