SANTA BARBARA (CBSLA.com) — School officials are asking students to be extra-vigilant after a 19-year-0ld was beaten and gang raped.
The victim told police she was attacked by several men between the campus and Isla Vista after 11 p.m. Saturday.
Isla Vista is a neighborhood adjacent to the campus where many students live.
The victim is working with law enforcement to identify her attackers. They were only identified as Asian.
“Right now, what we have to go on is that the suspects are described as Asian males. Obviously this is a lot for the victim to go through, so we are working with her to try and get a better description and to find who did this,” said Kelly Hoover of the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Dept.
Another woman, an 18-year-old student, also said she was sexually assaulted Saturday morning in Isla Vista in the 6500 block of Del Playa.
Three suspects — including a juvenile — have reportedly been arrested in that attack.

My Vietnamese wife hates the term Asian. She says it’s like calling her a terrorist. It’s what European call muslims. She prefers the term Oriental.
Isla Vista has always had a large population of crazy people, and rape was a problem when I lived there back in the late 70’s. But I don’t ever recall hearing of a gang rape so this is something much different. This sounds a lot like the ROP.
And WOGs?
If they were black, would reports have stated even that vague description?
At least the Brits still use “Oriental”, so if they say Asian, you know they mean “someone from the Subcontinent, likely a Pakistani.” With U.S. PC, you don’t even get that.
Exactly my thoughts. Perhaps they’re really Asian.
