My husband pointed out that very thing to his sister - her on again/off again marriage showing her son and daughter what is acceptable or permissable in a bad marriage. Instead of doing something about it she accused my husband of butting in. Of course a few years later after some very serious consequences, she needed my husband’s help.

Peta will jump into that argument for the health of animals, while protesting for legalization for humans everywhere. lol

Maybe we should outlaw anything that toddlers or animals might accidentally eat?

If your friend’s husband were asked by one of their kids if his illness is terminal, would he say yes, or would he dissemble? We all have different family dynamics, and one size does not fit all.

I was hurt and appalled when I realized MrT5 had known for weeks he would not recover, and had not told me-but hard as it was for me, I came to accept that it was his life, and how he managed the end of it was between him and God. I’ve regretted that I did not force him to stop the treatments that led to his demise, but it would have been wrong of me to do so-it was not my body or my life...

Where I worked last as a case manager, we were told that if we had a client’s partner or family member trashing in the guise of being cute, we were to put a stop to it by saying excuse me, but that teasing is not funny, so don’t do it here. It always shut them up and gave you the opening to engage the client in conversation, because it was about them after all, not the family member...

Simple question....who among the addlebrained will put $$$$$ into a Biden candidacy....I can see him being hubristic enough to run, but money rules.
If f he starts collecting cash, IMHO, he’s a stalking horse.

I woke up with an earworm-usually that is due to the fact that I leave the classic rock station on all night, but not this one, which goes way too far back for that-

“I’m not a fool anymore,
I’m not as dumb as before
All that has changed since it rained
Not from the skies, but from my eyes

So dry those tears from your eyes
It’s over now, all your lies...”

It is an old country/pop song from when I was 12-13, and we girls were into listening to and singing the most lovelorn and tragic songs on the radio, but I’ve no idea why I would think of it...

They have no idea he’s remotely sick. They know nothing. It’s a complete charade of normalcy while each month he spends two days in a hotel recuperating from chemo 2 mi from home. Goes so far as to have his secty order candy from cities he claims he’s traveling to at that time so as to bring them a gift. It is INSANITY. Should he die they may ever regret not having spent more time with him etc. He is depriving them of choices that may have lasting consequences.

That is a very elaborate ruse-I don’t think I’ve ever heard of such a thing. Had I known how little time MrT5 had, I’d have insisted he come home from rehab sooner, and treasured the time we had left even more. I can only guess that maybe your friend’s children may feel the same, but I could be wrong. Either way, I hope they do not blame your friend-right or wrong, she is honoring his wishes. Neither of the kids blamed me, but then I did not know, either...

I just finished some invoices and took Husky girl out-it is down to 34 here and the drizzle is absolutely icy, dripping off the evergreen trees on me when I was standing under them to stay drier. The dog spotted the next door neighbor’s cat and was romping happily along the fence while it just sat there looking at her till she got bored and we came back in. She loves this weather, with all her layers of fur and being bred for the cold, but I’ve had enough of the Siberian express for one winter...

Bitcoin was a scam looking for a place to happen.....

The run up from 135 to 800 should have been a clue.

When it was under the radar, and basically facilitating Silk Road, that was one thing....once Silk Road was exposed......

Bad JuJu.

My kids know and are horrified at the situation and have made me promise I would not keep anything like that from them. My friend has gone to their priest who has also urged him to tell the girls, but still he won’t. I asked her is it bc he feels that he has to be DAD and show no weakness and she says that’s exactly it. So IMO its an ego thing.

I don’t think it is necessarily bad to not show weakness-we were brought up to show none in public, like tears, fear etc, but my dad knew where to draw the line, and that is that it is okay in private with family. I understand heavy duty self discipline, but this sounds like carrying it to an extreme-and it could adversely affect his family-that is a shame.

I have to say that I don’t think I’d share anything like that with the cub, but it has nothing to do with ego or personal valor-she is an adult, and the personal bubble she chooses to live in does not have a provision-other than screaming hysterics-for dealing with things that do not fit nicely behind gilded partitions-it would simply be too much for me to deal with, never mind her...
