You're right. The UK now has two slim hopes. Prince William, as king, might make a difference. But he'd have to be willing to risk everything to change course. Unfortunately, that fool Charles is between William and the throne.
The UK's second hope is for another Cromwell. That's not likely.
So the most probable result is that the UK turns into one huge Detroit. My advice to Wales and Scotland: Break away and try to save your own identities.
You see a lot of that “whipped slave” mentality in third world countries, especially within the EU.

In fairness to the Royal Family, those who have commented on the issue, such as the Duke of Edinburgh, have made comments that pro-gun. After the handgun ban, he likened it to banning cricket if somebody went and battered somebody to death with one, which stirred up controversy.
Sad to say, but the pressure to tighten gun laws comes from the bottom up, not the top down.
