I believe the weight of the gold was worth only 27,000 it was the rarity of
the coins that brought the REAL value!!

$27k is the face value of the minted coins. An ounce of gold was worth $20 then. That has changed.

There were 1,427 coins according to several sources. That would be 1,427 ounces, or close to $2M just for the gold.
