My Mom visited Bangkok in 1958.
At a hotel, she ordered Pud Thai.

It was served with honey bees.

“What’s for afters?”
“Rat cake, rat pie, and strawberry tart”
“I’ll have a piece without too much rat in it”

GMTA.

Ancient Romans considered the dormouse a delicacy, and raised them.

Think arboreal squirrel, rather than Lewis Carroll's rodent.

Here in the Philippines they will eat just about anything.
How about a yummy balut...a fertilized duck egg. If you are lucky, it won’t have too many feathers.

Pressed rat and warthog.

After that meal, one needs to exercise. "Anyone for tennis? Wouldn't that be nice."

Balut is good. But, yeah, the more mature ones with beak and stuff are harder to eat.
