Bix Beiderbecke and the Wolverine Orchestra
Nice! Thank you!
Beiderbecke joined the Wolverine Orchestra late in 1923, and the seven-man group first played a speakeasy called the Stockton Club near Hamilton, Ohio. Specializing in hot jazz and recoiling from so-called sweet music, the band took its name from one of its most frequent numbers, Jelly Roll Morton's "Wolverine Blues."
Singin’ The Blues from 1927... what a classic. They clean up the sound really nicely.
Now moving to some Paul Whiteman recordings... hot trumpet and jazziness.
“Mississippi Mud” with Frankie Trumbauer (1928)
Now playing Artie Shaw from 1939.
Hot Jazz Saturday Night is on at the link again. . .
