Machu Pichu is a really weird place and no place for the handicapped. There are no handrails for the zillions of steps. There are practically no bathrooms and you have to pay to go. You can’t drink the water or you will immediately get sick.

My grandfather was friends with Hiram Bingham and was on the 1915 expedition as anthropologist and Medical Doctor. We have boxes of his original photos. Many are near duplicates of those published in the National Geographic.
The large peak in the background of the first photo is known as the 'Hitching Post of the Sun'.
