I doubt it. The left's sense of moral relativism and situational ethics have, in their minds, relegated oathing to a quaint anachronism.
As CS Lewis said about modernist influences:
“We make men without chests and expect from them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honor and are shocked to find traitors in our midst.”
With this bunch nothing surprises me anymore.
You’re right about the moral relativism, but they do need to enforce their orthodoxy. They do need rough men to do bad things on their behalf. To maintain control they must maintain fear.
