Conservationist and conservative have the same, uh, roots, if you’ll pardon the pun.

As a Marin County resident, I’d love to see this train - though a big plus is that it stops in Larkspur and doesn’t descend into the darkness of San Francisco. That said... I’d scrap the whole damn thing if I had to choose between the train and the tree.

Moving the tree would be tough, but it could be done. There’s a gigantic redwood grove not far from there called “Muir Woods” - perhaps you’ve heard of it - where the tree could thrive and be seen by millions.

But we’re talking SERIOUS bureaucracy here! SMART, the National Park Service, Caltrans... Good God! You gotta love the “It’s out of our hands” attitude these damn bureaucracies take.

Now if we can just propagate a few saplings next to the $60 billion “bullet-train-to-nowhere” we will have accomplished something.
