Exactly.
Speaking from my own point of view (having served in combat, albeit many years ago) the thought of being taken prisoner is far more disturbing than the fear of death.
I watched this show once. I saw nothing funny about it then, nor do I now, no matter how they dressed it up with pretty girls.

My father-in-law was a WWII ETO vet. His evaluation of a show he would never watch ... WTF is so funny about Nazis? Interesting take. My Dad joined in the invasion of Iwo Jima. He was in Nagasaki after the surrender. That part of the occupation caused little skin cancers for him the rest of his life. He still said the rest of his life that the Nagasaki he saw was the most beautiful sight anyone ever saw or could hope to see.

My uncle, who was a P.O.W. of the Germans said pretty much the same thing and also that the show and its premise were utterly ridiculous.
