Missing MH370: Capt Zaharie Life Member of PKR

PKR vice president R Sivarasa confirmed that MH370 flight captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah was a life member of the party.

However, the Subang MP said that the membership had nothing to do with the missing MAS airplane.

“He was a PKR member since Jan 23 last year and campaigned for us during the general election but this is irrelevant to the case,” said Sivarasa told a press conference here Sunday.

Sivarasa was responding to a Daily Mail report which claimed Zaharie was a “political fanatic”. Read: Flight captain a "political fanatic," reports Daily Mail

The tabloid also claimed that Zaharie commanded the doomed flight about several hours he attended the sodomy trial of Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Friday, hours before the flight took off from KLIA at 12.40am on Saturday.

Sivarasa said that the notions were incorrect as the report did not substantiate its allegations with any facts.

“Even though I was not entirely there (at the trial), I can say that he was not there. If he were, I would have been notified,” he said.

He also quashed allegation by the tabloid that said Zaharie was a political activist.

“This is not correct at all, he is just an ordinary party member, just like millions of other people. It’s not fair to say that he is a political fanatic,” said Sivarasa.

And that comment was a specious as any and all others that have surrounded this case.

PKR?

Ok Whatever that is. I guess people at the Malaysian Times don’t think, any more than their political leaders In Malaysia, that people all over the world are watching every move they make, reading every word they write.

Starting an article with an abbreviation is just uneducated. Never telling the world what the heck they are talking about?

People here will spend a half a day ranting about this pilot’s innocence, for no logical reason at all. But all reasonable people need to be all over both of these guys before they clear them and are on to the next explanation.

Where is this plane?!

Be thankful they haven’t claimed he was a card carrying member of the Tea Party. Well, yet anyway.

FWIW, Sivarasa, the party's chief, is a Hindu.

KUALA LUMPUR - Amid intensifying calls for Prime Minister Najib Razak to step down to take responsibility for mishandling the missing flight MH370 crisis, and after days of secretly holding the doomed pilot’s laptop, the Malaysian authorities have suddenly ‘loosened’ their lips in what appears to be a bid to draw in and tarnish Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim.

The 66-year-old Anwar is Najib’s political arch rival, and who the day before the plane went missing on Saturday, had been convicted and jailed on sodomy charges that many have opined were manifestly trumped up by the Najib regime.

In fact when the news of the missing airplane first broke, political cynics had privately termed the tragedy as a ‘Godsend’ for the 60-year-old PM, who stood to face a crippling backlash from the Malay community, the country’s predominant electorate, for resorting to ‘political dirty tricks’ to shut out another Malay leader.

However, the fire could not be contained and the MH370 tragedy may instead sound the political death knell for Najib himself. Expected to resign shortly, there is concern that Najib was trying to deflect blame and further smear his political nemesis on the way out from power.

Najib to step down soon

Over the past three days, rumors of Najib’s imminent resignation had turned red-hot and political watchers from his Umno party told Malaysia Chronicle that he had been ‘forced’ to agree to give up his post following tremendous pressure from party seniors, and would announce his decision soon.

So Zaharie is such a political fanatic that he has belonged to a party for a whole year? Uh huh, sounds real radical.
