You said ... “After all, there are even dark and evil things depicted in the Bible! Good art is going to reflect the reality we live in, and that reality is not always happy and nice.”

In the Bible, evil is shown and condemned immediately and directly - and the alternative by way of God’s plan - the Messiah of Israel is shown as the only way. If the shows did it that way, then that would be similar to the Bible. But, they don’t and they just show the evil and no way out - and they certainly don’t show God’s way as the alternative, i.e., the Messiah of Israel.

We are to focus on the precepts from God and not the evils if the world.

Romans 12:2 ESV
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Romans 8:5-6 ESV
For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.

Colossians 3:2 ESV
Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.

Psalm 119:15 ESV
I will meditate on your precepts and fix my eyes on your ways.

“Good art” can be bad (and should be rejected) or it can be positive and show the correct way.

Well, if that’s your position, we’re just going to have to disagree. Plenty of good art just wouldn’t work if you tried to shoehorn a gospel message into it, and it would be a very boring place to live in if the only art we accept is of the sacred variety.
