Authorities in Tampa have arrested a 31-year-old woman is facing five-years in prison for animal cruelty charges after she allegedly performed a c-section on a dog with a 'steak knife', no anesthesia and then used glue to close the amateur incision.

The Mastiff called Nadia died soon after and now Candace Patricia Hauser is facing a felony charge for removing the last two of the dogs 13 puppies on March 4 even though there was a veterinarian nearby.

Investigators arrested Hauser on March 5 when the dog's owner brought her to Veterinary Healthcare Associates in Winter Haven telling them she believed the animal was dying - when in fact Nadia was already dead....

No she didn’t “no anesthesia” so you can imagine what that dog went through feeling its gut being ripped open. I say “ripped” because they say the wound was jagged, torn because she used a steak knife. To me this sounds like she got off torturing the dog, and her smile in the photo doesn’t help matters.

13 puppies, at what, $500 each? And she wouldn’t even put out the cost of a visit to the vet. Sick!

Hmmmm....curiouser and curiouser....

“Hauser denied Tuesday that the dog died. She told a reporter that she is the owner of the dog, and that it and its 10 puppies are healthy and in her home.”

They are performed every day in every hospital across this country.

Of course surgery is dangerous. Never said it wasn’t, turn off the emotion and you might be able to think more clearly.

All pups for purebreds are expensive. If that was the case the owner would probably have paid a vet since the mother is worth a lot.

Crazy eyes. Behaving like a meth head, anything for money, kill the dog to get the last few puppies to sell. But, if she’s a meth head she’s not been one for long, so the crazy was a pre-existing condition.

The dog was probably in bad shape already. I can’t imagine it laying through the pain without some protest.

Triple that easily if there are papers with both sire and dam coming from a good line.

I don't know of ONE woman, friend, co-worker, acquaintance, NONE who had a C-section

I don't know how Nixon won. I don't know of ONE person who voted for him.

Yes, but I suspect this breeder doesn’t have any dogs with a good line. Reputable breeders don’t - well, they don’t do anything we read about in this story.

You don’t know “one woman” who has had a c section? You are completely delusional unless you just don’t know any women. Completely out in left field.

Work out a payment plan, or most vets offer financing. There are charitable groups all around set up to prevent poor peoples’ pets from dying due to inability to afford treatment. Plenty of options.

C sections are performed on women all them time.

I have to say, it's a little disturbing you so blithely relate a human surgical procedure to butchery of a dog.

$500?

Even backyard breeders get $1000 a pup.

That’s 13 grand.

She can just buy another bitch and keep on going.

This crap happens all the time with WV greeders who pump out Bulldog [and other Brachycephalic breed] pups who are rarely born *without* C-sections.

Although vets tend to be greedy, money-first jerks nowadays and do refuse service to people without a fortune in their pocket, very few if any will turn away a whelping dog in distress.

You’d have to really hunt to find one *that* cold blooded.

A dog with ‘stuck’ pups is in less danger than the stuck pups are, especially in a dog of that size.

I would bet she had time to get to a vet if the bitch was her great concern.

If the dog was breeching, you would think she’d have noticed distress long before the point she starting gutting the poor thing.

A stuck pup isn’t near as dire as a breeched calf or foal.

Gone are the days when vets cared for animals above all else.

My gramma had the vet come out in the middle of the night to deliver calves and he always told her to pay him the next time she saw him.

The heart has gone out of that profession.
