Pep Guardiola Steers Bayern Munich To Bundesliga Title In Record Time

Bayern Munich defeated Hertha Berlin 3-1 to become the earliest Bundesliga champion in 51 years of the league Tuesday, when the defending champion claimed its 24th German title.

The result ensures Pep Guardiola’s side wraps up the title with seven games to spare in the Spaniard’s first season as coach, beating the mark set in last year’s record-breaking campaign by one game.

“Praise has to go to the coach and the team,” Bayern sporting director Matthias Sammer said. “Pep Guardiola suits this team. He’s not only an expert, he’s also a fantastic guy.”

It was Bayern’s 19th consecutive win, its 10th consecutive victory away from home, and it stretched its unbeaten run to 52 games. All are Bundesliga records.

Bayern finished 25 points ahead of Borrusia Dortmund last season and is even more dominant this campaign. Of 27 games so far this season, Bayern has won 25 and drawn the other two. It also has scored more goals (79) and conceded fewer (19) than any other side by a large margin.

Barcelona will make Lionel Messi the world’s highest-paid player, with the four-time Ballon d'Or winner poised to earn more than £335,000 per week.

That is the pledge of club president Josep Maria Bartomeu just two days after the Argentina star's hat-trick defeated Real Madrid and put Barca back in the title race.

Manchester United have no chance against Bayern - McManaman
McManaman, who played for United's arch-rivals Liverpool before winning the Champions League with Real Madrid, fully expects Bayern to breeze into the semi-finals.

"Can United beat Bayern? Nooo, they have no chance," he said. "Bayern Munich have an amazing team - they're over 50 games unbeaten which is an incredible record. They are the favourites for the Champions League."

Manchester United can beat Bayern Munich according to Stoke boss Mark Hughes
Hughes said: “They can beat Bayern – absolutely. It will be difficult because they are an outstanding team.

“There was never going to be an easy draw whoever United might have got and they are not having one of their better seasons. But the Olympiacos result was the right reaction and I think David will turn things around there.”

Hughes added: “It’s early days and I’m surprised to see so much speculation about his future. He’s been given a long contract to put things in palce and I think he will.”

Wayne Rooney: teams no longer fear visiting Manchester United
The last time United lost six league matches at home was in 2002 and that is a statistic Rooney feels is unacceptable. "It's not good enough," Rooney said in a frank interview with MUTV. "We can't lose six homes games in a season and we have to put that right, and make this a place which teams fear again."

The way it works is, depending on the strength of a domestic league, each league sends a certain number of teams to the following season’s Champions League.

For example, the English Premier League, sends the top four teams to play in next year’s UEFA Champions League. The Champions League runs parallel to the domestic season. It’s not like we do it here where there’s a regular season than a playoff.

Be afraid, Moyes: United were predictably lame against City, and Bayern will show no mercy... this looks like the end game
Amid the excitement and sense of deja vu about last week’s thrilling Champions League comeback at Old Trafford, there remained a lingering thought: what if victory over Olympiacos transpired to be the worst thing that happened for Manchester United and David Moyes?

Former Manchester United defender Paul Parker has insisted that David Moyes's side have done "nothing to suggest" that they will be able to overcome Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

"You can't look at the match against Bayern Munich in the Champions League last eight with any optimism. They just can't. As much as people might say I'm being unfair or negative, it is difficult to be positive," the 49-year-old wrote in his Eurosport column.

"There is nothing to suggest Manchester United can take on Bayern over two games. Especially for a side who have lost at home to West Bromwich, Newcastle United and Everton. The fear factor at Old Trafford has gone."

The joke at the end of the game was "Moyes finally saw Everton win at Old Trafford."

Thanks, So Is this championship played every two years? I went to the link provided and I get the general idea but some parts are still confusing.
I have watched World Cup the past three times and am starting to like it more. I keep hearing to watch the premier league or something to watch the best teams, much better then the WC.
So I guess this will the matches to watch for the best soccer?
