There is no Marcella in my family except me. Husband and I stopped at a gas station going through Houston and he took my credit card into station. Lady came flying out of station to my window and she was excited that my name was Marcella. She was from Greece and there is a Marcella island off Greece, named for Saint Marcella who was a lady who grew up on that island and was made a saint for her work there and there is a convent there also named Marcella. This gas station lady thought I must be from Greece.
I had already been to Greece and did go to an island but it was not that one and I didn’t know that one existed when I went there.
Marcella for a woman and Marcel for a man, are also Italian. Do you know why the Marcella name is in your family?
Very interesting and thought provoking.
I have always wanted to go to Greece. I will someday.
Another interesting factoid, Marcella’s husband’s name was Marcellus. So my wife’s Grandparents were named Marcella and Marcellus. They lived in northern Ohio all of their lives and raised a pretty successful family.
You have to give it to the Marcellas and Marcellus’ (sic) they are strong willed peopled. Sounds just like you.
Just talked to the boss lady and she says that her paternal side of the family was from eastern Europe. Her family were known for making violins.
Her Grandmother’s name was Marcella Florence and her Grandfather’s name was Marcellus Lawrence and grew up a few miles from each other.
“You have to give it to the Marcellas and Marcellus (sic) they are strong willed peopled. Sounds just like you.”
I think my friends would say that about me. :o)
