Actually, it’s St. Paddy’s day. Never St. Patty’s. Paddy is the common nickname for Padraig, the Irish/Gaelic equivalent of Patrick. There are numerous Irish songs, reels, jigs, and hornpipes with Paddy in the title i.e. “Paddy On The Turnpike,” “Paddy In London” etc.
