I am so thankful that we don’t have deer in our neighborhood. There are quite a few further out from town where there’s lots of unoccupied land and forage.
Haven’t seen a single one this close to town in 40 years.
We have a herd of 7 deer that visit every couple of nights. Gardening is going to be problematic once it gets warm enough to get some plants growing.
This morning started off with some excitement - had a live trap near the garden baited with peanut butter/sunflower seeds to catch a renegade squirrel. Forgot to shut the door for overnight & caught a skunk. Actually got him/her released without getting sprayed - used a drum liner over the trap, dressed in another drum liner just in case, and using a heavy duty bungee plus a stick, got the door open. The skunk took a few seconds to come out, then bolted across the field. I figured one of these days I’d end up with a skunk in the trap and wondered what I’d do - now I know. :-)
