If you’re in the middle of a raid, and you hear a chicken clucking, hit the dirt.

I can’t wait to see all of the blood drain from Ragnar Lodbrok’s head the first time he sees Daenerys Targaryen.

A bit off point, but the British Museum has a current exhibit called "Viking," with a Viking warship, "broad-bladed axes, spearheads with silver-inlaid sockets, a wooden bow, iron slave collars, chain mail, Thors hammer rings, and arrows with heads reminiscent of spearmint leaves," and many other artifacts.
Smithsonian Magazine had an interesting article on it this month.
I'm still catching up on Season 2 of Vikings.

I learned that the vikings:
1. Were not over concerned with bathing.
2. Being covered in blood half the time was OK
3. Viking women knew how to land on their feet. :-)

What am I missing here? An actual lesson in history...with some license.
Ragnar Lothbrock/Lodbrock was an actual person from Viking history. Ragnar may be an amalgamation of several persons from history. There is not enough to pin it down. Though his exploits are not extremely well documented those of his sons are. It is a very good look back into the past around 750 AD.
Fancy that. The History Channel actually showing history for a change.

Very similar to how everyone in ancient Rome spoke with an English accent. I always loved how Richard Burton impersonated a German officer to get into the Schloss Adler in Where Eagles Dare and spoke with a British accent while all the other Germans spoke English with a German accent. He didn't even fake it. And none of the other Germans noticed at all.
"Do you know who I am? I'm Richard Buuuurton dammit. I will not fake a German accent. Not for any director. Because I'm Richard Buuuurton!"

That's two posts of yours that get a +3 from me. You are seriously into
Vikings.
As am I. I was hooked when I saw the first promo last year and drooled with antici.......pation for Episode 1. I've been reading about the Vikings since I was in grade school , oh so many decades ago.
I was not disappointed. I hope it gets the ratings that keep it on for years to come. Such historical dramas are in short supply, even on cable.
The last one that was any good and was historically (mostly) accurate was Rome. An entire series based on the only two Roman legionnaires that Julius Caesar wrote about? Great stuff.

You're going to end up with all of Northwest France and start a dynasty that will ultimately rule England. Get your act together and stop complaining about not getting R.E.S.P.E.C.T."
