I don't think there has been a day in the past 5 years that I haven't thought of him. I regret not spending more time with him even though we had many great adventures together. He was the best dad a kid could have ever been lucky enough to have had.
A few months before he died, they called me out of a meeting to talk to an ER doctor on the phone (Dad was in the hospital for another bout of pneumonia and now asphyxiating and there was a DNR in his records). The doc asked me what I wanted to do (insert an airway or not). I asked the doc about his chances, he said good and I told him to put in the airway.
My dad recovered. He told us about a dark place he had visions of and of demons chasing him. He was very frightened when a face appeared (the face of our Lord) saying he was going to save him. It wasn't long after that, that he, in his 70s, accepted Christ into his life for the first time and was baptized. It was one of the happiest days in my life, but sadly followed a few months later with his peaceful passing in his sleep.
Several very unusual events occurred during and shortly after the funeral that I will always believe were more than coincidental. I saw my dad's hand in at least two of these events. A third had to be the work of the Holy Spirit - no other explanation for it.
I pray the Almighty blesses you for your kind and caring words and your good deeds. The world needs more people in it like you! :-)
