SIERRA VISTA Sierra Vista K-9 Officers Bones and Izzy will be outfitted with life saving bullet- and stab-proof vests, complete with their own department patch, thanks to Tucson-based Protect Police K-9 (PPK-9) and a generous, anonymous Sierra Vista donor.
Police dogs are working officers, just like their two-legged counterparts, says Lawrence Boutte, Sierra Vista lieutenant. They are trained to serve and protect and will put their lives on the line while on duty. These vest will help keep them safe in the field.
PPK-9 founder Michael Valdez started his business with a mission to help all Arizona police dogs get equipped with bullet-and-stab-proof vests after hearing about Dax, a Tucson Police K-9, who was shot while chasing a suspect. With the help of generous caring donors, PPK-9 has provided life saving vests with a price tag of $825 each to police departments throughout Arizona. For more information on this non-profit organization helping to save K-9 officers one vest at a time, visit http://www.protectpolicek-9.com/.
You’re talking like a Bad Guy? /s
It would probably be a felony of some sort.
Where's his sunglasses? ;-)
“Police dogs are working officers, just like their two-legged counterparts,
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
However, one can trust a dog.
A dog won’t shoot your dog.
A dog won’t lie to the court.
A dog won’t plant evidence.
A dog won’t collaborate with and cover up for crooked dogs.
A dog won’t harass your for taking it’s picture.
Actually, police dogs are technically "officer/judges".
They can give their police handlers a warrant to search your vehicle.
That depends on what the definition of "bad," is.
Why do so many cops shave their heads?
That's why I called it "pure crap legalism." Dogs are merely a tool, which give an animal level of information. In order to raise up the threshold of that information to the realm of evidence, and absolve the cops from being questioned as to their interpretation of that evidence, police dogs were made - shazam - into cops.
It's pure magical thinking legalism. And it's done through the incorpration of the dog. Anyone realize that? That the damn dog is INCORPORATED in order to be considered an "officer?"
I said it before, and I'll say it again - Leftists study corporate law, conservatives don't. As a result, Leftists know how to use corporate presumption against people - and conservatives don't know how to defend themselves from it.
And that, quite frankly, is the End of America if it is allowed to continue to its conclusion.
Could you imagine this bunch trying to run that "magical thinking legalism" past any one of the Founding Fathers?
There would have been beatings...
They are most likely trained to trigger a hit
on anything out of the ordinary or a signal from the handler. That way the cops have a reason to search, legitimate or not.
He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people, and eat out their substance.
There is now no reason for a criminal, or for that matter a citizen protecting himself from an unconstitutional “no-knock” raid by these jackbooted thugs, to shoot any cop in the chest. It must be assumed they are wearing armor. Therefore, the only legitimate target is the head or groin.
EXACTLY RIGHT.
Willing to bet 85% of Americans cannot identify the document that phrase comes from. The percentage is somewhat lower here on FR.
It is part of the "tough guy", jackbooted thug look. Goes with their attitudes.
Bruno, the police dog who was shot in the face by an armed suspect more than two weeks ago, continued to show signs of improvement Friday after emergency surgery for a condition called gastric bloat earlier in the week, officials said.
The surgery was a set back, said Officer R.J. Young, his handler, on Thursday evening. But hes coming back from it pretty well.
Animal hospital officials said Bruno can drink and eat little bites out of a dish though he was still receiving oxygen and fluid intravenously.
You would have never believed Bruno had bloat surgery less than two days ago, Yorba Regional Animal Hospitals Steve Dunbar posted on its Facebook page Thursday night. He is healing at an amazing rate.
Bloat occurs when too much air fills the stomach, making it difficult to breath.
Hes got to learn to eat and drink again, Young said.
The city on Thursday shared video footage of Youngs visit with Bruno on Monday, before the emergency surgery. Click on the clips to view.
Outer vest carriers are way more comfy and allow you to take gear off the belt and put it in your torso which saves your back for retirement.
I personally do not like droplet holsters at all....in some circumstances they are necessary however....but I hate em myself.
Shaved head? Not for me....no man should want to shave his head if he can have hair. However....lots of the kids nowadays are doing jiu Jistsu and any amount of hair that is long enough to grab is problematicf he makes you wrastle him.
Knife? I hate extra gear onboard (see back health comment above) but others like it.
I agree on some of your gear views as it applies to people loving new toys. I prefer scaled down equipment.....duty gun backup gun two spare mags and two sets of cuffs.
I refuse to relent on loving an outer vest carrier.....I want my back healthy for golf and broads when I retire.
Location of dept. Should not be discounted as I think this fella is in CA and the outer vest carrier is nice in a hot climate.
Just a quick reminder to readers. The life of a police dog is more important to them than the life of your average citizen. Your dogs, on the other hand are excellent for target practice.
Waste of money. they should just use Pit Bulls so that if they get shot, nobody will care. (sarc)
