Posted on 04/13/2014 1:43:14 PM PDT by Jack Hydrazine
Snow beginning tonight with BRIEF near blizzard conditions possible across the North Texas & Western Oklahoma Panhandles, according to Chris Morris with the National Weather Service in Amarillo, Texas
Also hard freeze warnings in effect! In mid April!
Video report from the NWS.
I know that the old timers here in Central TX have been saying “Don’t plant yet as the unexpected Easter Freeze is imminent”
Once this cold passes everything should be okay. Right?
Damned GloBull warming.
Even hits the dustbowl.
That’s what the wooly worm predicts.
We’re to have a hard freeze Monday night here in northern Missouri. I do remember 18” of snow on April 17th in 1972. Went mushroom hunting the next day and found a mess.
Guess I’ll call off the hunt this year until last week of April. Sigh.
Global warming is starting to suck.
It is never, ever a good idea to trust the weather here in March and early April to put vulnerable plants in the ground, unless you’re in a city where it is not as cold. It will likely not freeze here, but it will get close-it has been freezing earlier in the Fall and later in the Spring out here for the last 8-9 years...
Thanks for posting! Going to Midland, will be cooler tomorrow so threw in a jacket.
Wait till after Easter, if you are in Texas-that global warming is so unpredictable...
What type of load do you use when you hunt them mushrooms?
Until the inevitable May hailstorms hit. I have relatives who farm wheat in the panhandle, and grow vegetables and fruit in Central TX. It really does seem like once in about every six years, they will have a crop with no damage from weather related events. also, we are still in a drought in most of TX.
It’s actually snowing right now, here in northern Colorado.
“Global warming is starting to suck.”
Laz, just think of AGW as a really hot woman that likes to suck.
Wait a minute...that didn’t come out right...
Don’t try to win me over like that.
Is Algore and his idiot minions having a global warming conference in Amarillo?
Oh yeah! It could be the Gore Effect kicking in!
I would kill myself.
are the Bison already walking down the highways to a warmer state??
Because I don’t trust the weather I planted everything in pots or felt bags. Last night I carried them all into the garage. We were supposed to get severe thunderstorms with large hail. Well that didn’t materialize but I think the plants will stay in the garage until Tuesday or Wednesday just to be on the safe side.
Cool. No pun intended and it must be global warming.
A 32 Kel-Tech actually. Tell you what, at my age the mushrooms are the only things that move slow enough for me to catch. I carry cause of the critters in the bottoms, i.e. ran across a rabid possum once-he was VERY aggressive, and a few rattlers, but have never had to shoot yet.
and Tornado season starts soon, and no matter what happens, its global warming! If Oklahoma gets nailed by either an F1 or F5, yess, its global warming.
Ha! Got 6-8” so far today.
Thought we’d share!....
6-8” here in south park so far.
Hope yer good sax!
headed here tonight ..dang was 82 yesterday.
Started footers for the garage last week, now we have to wait till this melts off again.
Won’t be long we’ll be cussin’ the heat...
same here .been on the road past 90 days . got home friday late and been windy an warm. we need moisture here bad .. send it cold or not.
hopefully get my new shop built this spring .. busy busy busy
I’m in NW Houston. If I lose my tomato plants that are already 2’ tall and filled with blooms, along with everything else that’s come up, I won’t be putting in another garden. I’ve had old timers tell me to never plant before Good Friday. I guess they’re right. But, in Texas if you don’t get started pretty early everything burns up the first of July.
but the UN says ,LOL
