I seriously doubt Barry Obama even knows who his parents are, who he is, or where he was born. He is a puppet trained from birth to be a tool for communists and progressives.

I think he is speaking in a quasi hypothetical way on behalf of a proverbial person to whom he thinks his message is applicable. I think he his essentially saying “If my father had fought in WWII, I would want to have the assurance . . .”
There are many truly dark and nefarious deeds associated with Obama and his deceptions about his background; so, IMHO there’s little value in in bothering about his awkward choice of words in this speech excerpt.

About six months ago, I did a web search with the key words: “Obama” and “lie”. The response overwhelmed my computer with replies to the point of shutdown. Required professional IT cleanup. I re-ran the search with: “Obama” and “truth”. Only one response: “could not be found”.
