It’s finally light enough when I get home from work, that I can get about 5 minutes of work in the garden every night. I’ve been planting tomato seeds in wall-o-waters. But I’m filling them with hot water instead of cold. I’m curious if that’ll have any effect.

I planted peas, chickpeas, and nunas, and the next day we had snow. I’m not too worried about the peas, but I’m pretty sure the nunas won’t make it. And I really didn’t have enough seed to waste. I only had 10 nuna seeds and I planted 4.
(Nunas are a kidney-type bean that you pop like popcorn. They are also hard to find seeds for.)

I’m hoping to get the rest of the backyard garden planted over the weekend. After that, I get to focus on my other garden, which will take longer. I still need to put down at least 5 more rolls of landscape fabric before I can plant, and I’d rather the fabric had a chance to sit for a few weeks first.

Glad you are finally getting home before dark. It’s always a bummer coming home after a hard days work to the dark.

I know I always felt better when I could get home and some daylight time.

Ok, you’re going to have to explain nunas. Beans that you pop like popcorn?

Why is it that I can work for hours on my land, but 20 minutes in the backyard is too much? I think it’s the rabbit fences. They’re too short to be worth taking down every time I need to work, but too tall to be able to sit or kneel while I work. The leaning over flippin HURTS!!!

I got all my seeds planted, but only 1 more wall-o-water up. That makes a total of 4 out of 16 up. It would be easier if the hose were hooked up, but dad disconnected the spigot. And I don’t mean “turned it off at the shut-off valve”. I mean the pipe is cut and the spigot is on a shelf in the garage. He came out while I was working today and asked me if I’d ever have time to help him install a new one, I said “Sure, just give me a few minutes to finish getting these seeds in the ground.”

Less than 10 minutes later, I went to find him and get started, and he yelled at me about how it was a 3 hour job and didn’t I know he had to take Nephew to a soccer game? How could I demand such a thing?!?!

If it was a 3 hour job, why did he ask me in the first place when he knew he wouldn’t have time? And how is it my fault? I give up. He makes no sense. He is never going to make sense. I want my house finished so I can move away and never have to deal with him again.
