Many PRESENT DAY showers do have men, including the groom present. We prob would have had the groom to be at the shower we had for our niece, at least at the end so he could eat, but he’s a pharmacist at Walgreens and has to work until 6pm most weekends. we did send him food with the bridetobe.

It’s just how her family does it.

I like my sides better. That day I had beer and wings at the sports bar with dad while the ladies did their thing.

I am leaving this afternoon for a training thing in the remote mountains of Virginia. They don’t even have cell phone service.

So, if I don’t post tomorrow it is because I have no way of doing so.

That, or I have been killed by wildlings.

my personal pet peeve is people extending their hands in the orans posture during the Our Father. It is a priest's pose and not generally for the laity. It is associated with the charismatics, and that makes sense.

Well, it certainly kept their attention. I didn’t have my prayer book with me, so I’m not sure which parts they were repeating. It wasn’t all of it. So, it is possible that they omitted the most holy parts.

I belong to one of the wealthiest parishes in the wealthiest county in Wisconsin. It really is disgraceful about how many people breeze out of church before Mass is over, how many people show up very late, how many people show up in grungy and ragged clothes, how many people haven’t even combed their hair, etc. Yes, our people take part in the Mass and some of the priests even try to engage the children, but it is not the same. There was a cohesion at Sacred Heart that you could just feel.

Their cousin's repeated Itterations often caused the Addams Family irritation…

No man has an interest in being at a hen party, I assure you.

Whether today, twenty years ago, or twenty years from now.

Big foot was spotted in the Shenandoahs. i will post for you if you don’t rise up by 9 am or so. Are you purposefully arranging these travels, and training sessions in the wild on your SUB day? ; )

I’ve never seen anyone but a priest do that. It seems quite inappropriate for the laity.

Seriously? in 2014, you would come out with that ridiculous statement just dripping in sexism? I am the anti-feminist, but to generalize in such a way about a HEN party is ridic. Hell, I WOULDN”T want to be at a hen party. Do you think we sit around talking about Tampons and diaperchanging and having our hair done????

you don’t see the laity holding their hands up? your church must be all very traditional then, bc i see more than a handful doing it, and it bothers me, bc i KNOW it’s not appropriate! i associate it with hardcore novus ordo, where they hold hands etc.

I had to go listen to the song after coming home from the school and the doc's office. I complained about my PT bill and they said I am being charged twice as much as the other place charges because they are billing me as a hospital. Except I am not going to a hospital for it. I am annoyed at the iteration of nonsense. Good song, lifted my mood.

Men and women are different. Doesn’t matter what year it is.

It’s a bridal shower, not a groomal shower.

i have no idea how she went about getting this thing. I know several months back xshub’s BIL was asking me for xsfiance’s full name and the name of the church and it’s location etc. i didn’t think anything of it, he’s not Catholic, but he is def one to have something special done up, so i wasn’t surprised. But Cousin Judy put him up to it i guess, and so we never suspected. We know she’s nuts for rome and over there constantly, so if she had asked, we would have suspected something like this. She has suggested that both megan and xsteen have the plaque place on the altar during their ceremonies. xsteen and xsfiance will talk to Fr Etsio about it when they next meet with him.

Unless you are sitting around with your friends, farting, scratching your privates and talking about HUNTING, i sincerely doubt there is any difference as far as conversational norms.

It seems bizarre to me that anyone would do that.

it is not remotely rare, i assure you. At Holy Rosary, where we attend, it is not nearly as prevalent as it is in the suburban NoVA parishes. you should hear some of Tioga’s stories about the dioceses in upstate NY. I know my husband and son have walked out of a few where they had laypeople giving the sermons, and in one instance in Syracuse, a lay GAY person giving the sermon with rainbow banners strewn all about. There are a whole lot of abuses taking place out there, i am afraid.

The point is that it is a ladies party. And that’s ok.

Not everything has to be unisex.

The groom doesn’t invite all his best buds to the event, right?
