Was trying to explain in the car to the wife that Sonia and her ilk believe we must discriminate in order to be non-discriminatory.
She could not understand. Finally convinced her she wasn’t nuts, they are.

“People can disagree in good faith on this issue, but it similarly does more harm than good to question the openness and candor of those on either side of the debate.”

Hardly, but then that is Roberts so what do you expect. Soto-Mayor needs to be impeached. Her perspective of the Constitution, Bill of Rights and Civil Rights is as distorted and sick as Obama’s and Holder’s.
Odd. I’ve always felt that it was affirmative action that was trying to wish away racial inequality.
But I think that the real problem is that Sotomayor doesn't want low-information citizens to find out that it is the states, not the Supreme Court or any other branches of the federal government, who uniquely have the constitutional Article V power to ratify new amendments to the Constitution which would enumerate racial protections.
In fact, the states ratified the 15th Amendment to expressly protect voting rights on the basis of race.
So what Justice Sotomayor needs to do if she really wants to limit racial discriminaton on additional issues within the framework of the Constitution, as opposed to twisting the arms of her colleagues to wrongly legislate such rights from the bench, is the following.
Justice Sotomayor needs to work with both state and federal lawmakers to proprose additional anti-racial discirimation amendments to the Constitution to the states for ratification. And if the states chose to ratify her amendments then the states will have less power to discriminate on the basis of race and Sotomayor will be a hero.
This isn’t the first and it won’t be the last time this broad is all the way “me, me, me”. Her nomination and approval are and were big-time mistakes. And they will be mistakes for the next 35 years.
Not that her patrons on the Left care.
By that logic should the order in line be by percentage of your racial makeup and if your related in any way to the impacted party?
Obama is 50% white of an old America family and 50% non white first generation. .so by blood he 50 % guilty oppressor and 50% of a non victim...so how does he go in front of a first generation anyone of any race makeup?
this country is going to require decades to reduce minority racism. they now believe they are always entitled to it.
And government institutionalized reverse racism policies exacerbate racial animosity ... but pitting segments of the population against each other is standard commie fare.
Argue like a ghetto Latino, Latina, whatever - be treated like one.

Never mind she, a Hispanic: Thomas, a black; Ginsberg, a Jew; and what's her name, the supposed lesbian, all sit on the highest court in the land.
Of nine justices, 1 is black-about 12 to 14 % of the population; Sotomeyer, about 16-18% of the population; Ginsberg, about 4 to 7 % of the population; and what's her name, about 2-4% of the population (and rising, due to activism).
Not good at math, but doesn't that make about 45% of the high court consist of minorities?
They would not be satisfied if 100% were minorities.

In today’s age, I can’t imagine a state school turning any student away because of skin color....with the acception of Asians who achieve at a higher rate then their numbers dictate. That’s the irony....keepp affirmative action in place and deny asian minorites....as well as whites of course. The world is upside down as this crazy judge clearly demonstrates. By the way, why is diversity always spoke about in terms of skin color. Maybe we should have a law to get more conservatives on campus. Or, perhaps we need more vegetarians or meat eaters or football fans or knitting junkies. The point is, it’s all silliness!!! Let those in who qualify. Period. End of story.
In all seriousness, the Progressive movement doeesn’t have a ‘racial’ beef with modern America. They have a beef with 1800’s America and Jim-Crow America. The only problem is both of those eras are long gone and nobody alive today had anything to do woth those eras and only the oldest amongst us suffered from the Jim Crowe era. The bottom line is: “It’s over.” There is no one left to punish and no living who suffered. It’s like still being mad a Britain for the revolution. Let it go. It has no meaning anymore....to anyone accept the haters and the losers and the excuse makers.
History should never be forgotten, of course, but it’s time to acknowledge that the need for affirmative action is just that.....history.

She isn’t qualified to sit on a Bronx traffic court. It is an outrage that she sits on the highest court in the land. She should count herself lucky and shut up.
