Is there any way to get a “phone” number for receiving and sending texts on my computer? There are some things I would like to sign up for, but I don’t want to clutter my phone with it, like how I keep a yahoo email account separate from my real email address.

I don't know. I Googled 'receive and send texts on computer' and received a lot of hits, but I can't recommend any of them because I haven't tried them.
Perhaps one of FR's tech gurus can help with your question.

Google used to have a text messaging program for gmail. I used to use it when my phone would be too obvious or I wanted to prank a friend.
