She's a wife, a mom and Golden State Warriors star Stephen Currys biggest cheerleader.
Ayesha Curry wears a lot of hats, but on Thursday night she was focusing on only one thing: How to keep her husband focused on leading his team to victory in the NBA playoffs against the Los Angeles Clippers.
More than 20,000 fans filled Oracle Arena to cheer the Warriors on until the very end of Thursday night's Game 3 nail-biter -- the Clippers won 98-96 -- and a very emotional Ayesha was among them.
Our day-to-day life isnt this, she said, referring to the crazed fans and the flashing bulbs at Oracle. We are completely, 1,000 percent like the most normal people on earth. Our night consists of lying in bed and watching HGTV.
Curry: 'Obviously it's a 'must-win' in Game 4 on Sunday' A former model and actress, Ayesha met Curry in high school and they became college sweethearts.
She told NBC Bay Area in a pre-game interview Thursday that, for the couple, its always family first. Their world centers around their faith and their little girl, Riley.
On Thursday, as thousands got ready to watch Stephen take on the Clippers, Ayesha was busy taking care of the little things.
Usually I cook a pre-game meal. Its usually some sort of pasta, and if not pasta, and Im not cooking, then its Subway, she said. He [Stephen] takes a pre-game nap, and Riley and I kind of do our thing during that time to give him a little bit of clarity of mind, a little relaxation before all the big stuff happening over there.
Ayesha described Curry as a great dad.
Hes so hands on, hes fantastic, he learned from the best -- his dads amazing, so you know the apple doesnt fall far from the tree," she said.
In his fifth season as a guard with the Warriors, Currys schedule is nothing short of rigorous.
Golden State Warriors 2014 Playoffs Highlights Its always trying to find the balance in the chaos and every day we are working on that, Ayesha said.
Ayesha's Twitter feed is filled with Vine videos and pictures of Riley and Stephen, giving fans an inside look at the Curry family. One of her YouTube videos shows her and Stephen talking about their relationship candidly, talking just like any other 20-somethings.
They joke about who wears the pants in the family (I think we got the 50-50 thing down, right? Ayesha asks Curry, laughing), nicknames (Curry calls Ayesha ishiboo), favorite restaurants (El Paseo) and Ayeshas favorite shows (Revenge, Teen Mom 2 and American Horror Story).
The video gives fans a look at Stephens playful side. At one point he even teases Ayesha about her favorite team (Lets see, um, uh, they play in Oakland ?).
The Currys will be back at the Oracle Arena Sunday as the Warriors will try and even the series in Game 4.
That, obviously, is a must win for both of them.
The NBA has a policy among referees that star players get different calls than non-star player. It's one of thew worst parts of the NBA.
The NBA is known for having referees who call fouls on star players..LeBron James flops all over the place, so does Blake Griffin, they never get called on it. I’m all for abolishing the foul call, just let the players play the game, let them decide on the floor who is the better team..let them play, like they did in the 80s, the way the game was played in the 80s you would never see that today
These people aren’t ‘normal’ and they’re not a part of us. Compared to the rest of us they might as well be aliens from another planet.
Same goes for politicians, actors, and employees of government.
They live in a different world.
I’d be happy if travelling was called whenever it happens. Hint: you are not aloud to take three steps towards the hoop for a shot just because the ball is changing hands.
It’s disgusting to me. They also let star players travel, etc. The NBA referees are a huge factor in playoff games. It’s turned the NBS into something like professional wrestling.
Id also be happy if they did something about the constant flopping that is done during games..and I mean OBVIOUS flopping
Refs decide outcomes of games all the time..here is a hint, whenever you see Bennett Salvatore refereeing a game just know someone is gonna get royally screwed..they always have him referee a game when they have an agenda
Blake Griffin is the worst. He should be a soccer player or an actor. He acts like he’s a 90 year old frail grandmother. Flopping needs to end.
In a game the other night Chris Paul flopped backwards and the replay showed he hadn’t even been touched.
This is Warrior’s Ground!
I hate the Floppers, that is what us Laker fans have been calling them for years..yet Blake Griffin gets KIA Commercials for his “Acting” ability..did you see what he did to that Warriors fan during Game 1, spilled a drink on him, so obvious that was intentional. Hope the Warriors win tonight..I know the “Rules” Laker fans cant root for NorCal teams but I just hate the Floppers and besides, Doc Rivers coached the Celtics, strike 3
Yep, Chris Paul flops too..he’s been flopping his entire NBA Career..but hey thank David Stern for screwing us Laker fans over for “Basketball Reasons”
Manu Ginobli perfected the art of flopping.
Actually if you want to go back to old school days, Vlade Divac perfected the art of flopping
I still think Griffin is worse. He’s a lot bigger than Ginobli too. Plus, Ginobli grew up watching soccer.
Oh yeah....you are correct.
WAY too much attn put on sports in this country. Basketball? Guys run back and forth putting a ball in a basket? Wake me up when it’s like hockey.
In game 2 they didn’t call a single foul on Paul or Griffin, no matter what they did. The Warriors have been really screwed in all 3 games.
Blake does it and gets rewarded with TV commercial spots..Clipper fans are basically Laker haters who need someone to root for..Id love to have Ginobili on this team, he’s a damn good player, flopper, yes, but Tony Parker flops too but he’s also really good
