If we could isolate this virus and introduce it into the wild pig population we might be able to make a dent in their rapidly increasing numbers.

Not trying to kill it off, hogs reproduce like roaches and are causing lots of problems both for farmers/ranchers and for wildlife. This virus kills off the babies, that would result only in slowed growth of the wild herds.
