Let’s see...Except for the original stars....

Domhnal Gleeson was ‘Bill Weasley’ in the last 2 ‘Harry Potter’ films.

Oscar Isaac was ‘Prince John’ in the Russell Crowe version of ‘Robin Hood’

John Boyega will be in the new ‘24’ coming in a few weeks.

Andy Serkis...yeah, we know him. As well as Max von Sydow.

Beyond that, I haven’t a clue who these other people are. As for Serkis...I wonder if they’re going to do to him what they usually do: put him in a Mo-Cap suit and digitize his character (’Gollum’, ‘Caesar’) I’ve only seen him ‘live’ in Peter Jackson’s unfortunate ‘King Kong’.

A Star Wars movie without Darth Vader is like a Pink Panther movie without Inspector Clouseau.

Right as you may be...he's dead Jim. Let it go!

“...Special effects are still impressive and still look real. ...”

Good point! They do.

I still remember the old “Star Trek” series, where you could see the halo around the Enterprise as it moved through space. We’re a long way from primitive special effects.

My gram thought it was the coolest thing she’d ever seen up to that point. Glad I had the opportunity to take her to see it.

Hell, when she was a kid, movies were still SILENT and Black and white.

She’s gone now, in 1995. But she was an amazing gal, and she sure loved “her boy” (me - I was her only grandson).

“...if you ever seen that before....”

Yes, I have. Not pretty.

But she’d probably have the best cosmetic surgery money can buy. She’s probably got the bucks for it.

It's time for the Italians to make another SF movie.

Last I heard, JarJar was captured by a Russian Spetznaz unit somehwere in Karachi, and is currently being tortured by crazed homo Ewoks deported from Endor.

But he’s happy, so it’s ok...

They dare not. Every ST fan KNOWS Jar-Jar had no Force powers, not to mention it was JAR-JAR’S suggestion that Palpatine be granted ‘emergency powers’ while he was acting representative for Naboo. (See ST III if you don’t believe me.)

Yes...the Empire was all Jar-Jar’s fault!

Actually they stopped making original cast Trek movies long before any cast members died. And they didn’t even stop because they were old. It was part of the sequel process, all the spinoff shows were supposed to get movies, but by the time they’d done 4 non-TOS movies and the 4th spinoff show the audience had abandoned them. That’s what caused the reboot, the quest for a new audience.

If that’s really her ...

AICN had pictures up in the last few days of Mark Hamill several months ago, and more recently. He’s lost at least 60lbs ...

Maybe I’m just a cranky old man anymore, but, today’s computer graphic special effects look so fake to me.

Maybe I was more in awe of the dated special effects of old shows and movies, such as the original Star Trek and Star Wars, because I wondered how they did the special effects. In any case, today’s computer graphics look so obviously fake to me. Also, I think they depend more today on dazzling us with special effects, rather than a good solid storyline.

The story will take place on the Planet Koch, where two wealthy brothers are funding the Galactic Blaster Association (GBA), which promotes the right to keep and bear blasters by commoners.

The Senate sees this as a threat to their noble plans to de-industrialize Coruscant and relocate inhabitants to rural planets like Naboo, to enjoy a more healthy and sustainable lifestyle of community farming.

The evil brothers from Planet Koch must be stopped, by use of (the) Force if necessary!

RE :”Wow... so am I. I was 16 when “Star Wars” came out... holy crap...”

In those days 1977 (ep V) those special effects in a movie theater looked and sounded impressive, it was much of the show.

By the third movie Return of Jedi VI 1993 it became obvious that the theme had run out of gas ('follow the Force Luke' GAG), the acting sucked, the lines were silly, it wasn't believable that they were twins and the ending of the first three movies with the Teddy Bear army victory did it for me. I thought 'WOW, this is stupid'.

I cant watch those now,

None of them are as young as they used to be. Same with SW the audience.
