Those are good numbers. The lower the better. What you don’t want to hear is 5-6-7-8..


A few years back I was getting 4’s to 6’s. I was on a three month regimen with the dentist. Then I went on this diet that removed pretty much all sugar. I went to my next visit - this one was six months becuase of some issues (wife filed for divorce in the interim) and they were down to 1’s and 2’s. The dentist was perplexed. I finally mentioned the diet and he said that was it.

I’ve been wary of sugar ever since.

Fact is, if one avoids sugar in their diet, they may never need a dentist. Key word, “may”.

If you have a healthy set of teeth, you can probably get away with one check up a year. A checkup and teeth cleaning is $120 or so. I wish I were in that category.
