No not that Uncle Buck but he actually was quite a character. He was technically my Great Uncle, his wife was my Grand Mother’s Sister.
He had literally been a hobo during the early 30s. My Father always was very fond of him.

We need to get more young FReepers interested in journalism and teaching. These liberals are completely nuts!

Get to work. America needs this NOW!

Aren't you from Gainsville or some where close to there?
To: JoeProBono
I just don't get it. I have picked cotton, strawberries, tomatoes, oranges and many other fruits and vegetables. I was happy to get the work.
Well, sometimes rattlesnakes were a problem...

That would be great.
I guess it was really hard work — hot, too.

Lots and lots of cotton was raised in the Central part of California.

I live in Memphis TN cotton fields all around us.

Hot depended on the particular year. Cotton gets done in early fall. You might have 95+ days then but not like in August usually. Sometimes you have nice sunny days with low humidity and temps in the high 70’s.

I live in Memphis TN cotton fields all around us. Yea it's the right climate there for it. You know what is strange on the other side of the state is I haven't seen a tobacco field in years and I live in a rural county. 20 years ago you saw quite a few.
In the article they are saying this was in Redmond, Washington State? I don't think so. LOL.

Where the hell do they find cotton in Redmond? Microsoft campus?
To: Bartholomew Roberts
Many years ago there was a professor at Stanford who tried a similar exercise. Instead of owner/slave it was prison guard/prisoner. They had to stop the exercise half way through. It turned out badly.

Where the hell do they find cotton in Redmond? Microsoft campus? A virtual cotton field. LOL.
