With over 80 years of Socialist insinuation into our lives, it will be nearly impossible to extirpate all the Gov't tentacles. Once instituted, there's very little motivation on the part of professional Politicians to exit, taper off or drastically modify any program that "helps" people ... no one seeking reelection wants the money flow to expire attributed to their watch. These long-timers have become expert at ingratiating themselves with local & special interests that keep them in place, term after term after term.

In the case of Obamacare (simply a pretext I believe for eventual Single-Payer), there was no real Humanitarian OR fiscal need for a program of that scope, especially where much more reasonable, Conservative proposals i.e. to tie pre-tax dollars to Health Savings Accounts are routinely cast aside by the "Party of the Little Guy".

It was a scam from the get-go, a plan to take over 20% of the US economy. It had nothing to do with providing insurance for the uninsured and their numbers haven’t changed. All that happened was a lot of people who did have insurance had their policies cancelled and the new ones they can get cost twice as much and then some.
