Since when is tiger considered racist? Must be referring to Tiger Woods... I learned it...in the 1950's,middle class white neighborhood...to be a name for black people that's seldom used today.

It is getting worse, but politcal correctness controlling our language is not a completely new phenomenon. The Swedish (actually Scanian) author and raconteur Fritiof "the Pirate" Nilsson (1895 - 1972) was heard to complain that "these days it is no longer possible even to write about a darning needle without some one-eyed bastard feeling agrieved."

There’s a variation in some circles where tiger is replaced with the N word. I remember the first time I heard it being quite shocked and sometimes that’s how you instantly learn you’re hanging out with the wrong crowd, even if all the signs were there from the beginning.

You do realize that Clarkson is a satirical writer? And let’s not forget that our own media was saying the same things including plenty of FReepers who were pimping the same.

Also Ten Little Indians was originally Ten Little N words.

Yeah, Clarkson is a typical Brit Hate-America type. I wonder when the lies told about Katrina will go away...

It would be the rhyme that I learned from the neighborhood kids at the age of five.

Actually Clarkson likes America just fine. Last Christmas he was posting photos on twitter of his vacation at a Florida resort where he was shooting skeet from the roof of the hotel. He said it was one of the great things about America.
In his interview with Jay Leno he says he used to come to America and it felt like a prison and going home was returning to a free country. Now he feels like its the other way around.

Including me. Americans ARE stupid. When you know that a wall of water is coming and you don’t haul ass outta there - that’s stupid. When there’s help for the asking and you don’t ask - that’s stupid. When you abuse your authority to keep rescuers at bay - that’s stupid. When it is commonly accepted that Katrina was somehow Bush’s fault - that’s monumentally stupid.

The media made things worse by declaring that people were dying by the thousands in the dome and even pimping stories of bodies stacked like cordwood and even cannibalism.
I remember seeing some photo journal by a foreign tourist who was in NO at the time. They were amazed that the locals didn’t seem to think there was something wrong with ankle deep water and when it got knee deep they just started looting. When the tourists got to the dome they were being threatened so they stole a car and got the hell out of town.
It was a shameful chapter in American history that mostly began and ended right there in NO but FEMA did the bureaucratic thing and screwed things up even more.

Pretty sure the way my grandfather said it back in the day was, “catch a negro by his toe”. Pretty sure that was the traditional version of the nursery rhyme.

Phew, I am relieved, I thought he did something really wrong like calling for a 2nd Amendment in England, Free Market Healthcare instead of the BHCS, and quoting Winston Churchill.... ( Sarcasm off )...
