There’s a variation in some circles where tiger is replaced with the N word. I remember the first time I heard it being quite shocked and sometimes that’s how you instantly learn you’re hanging out with the wrong crowd, even if all the signs were there from the beginning.
Pretty sure the way my grandfather said it back in the day was, “catch a negro by his toe”. Pretty sure that was the traditional version of the nursery rhyme.
The old version of Eenie, meanie, miney, moe did NOT say catch a tiger by the toe. It said to catch something else by the toe, and I will get censored off this site if I write what the word was.
