Great book. Pournelle is a really interesting guy, a true modern Renaissance man. Among other things, he has been a true Cold Warrior as a Boeing employee involved in nuclear war planning and game theory, an assistant mayor under Sam Yorty of Los Angeles, a noted computer columnist in addition to his science fiction writing, etc.
On the one hand, done right that would be a great film. On the other hand, Hollywood usually screws things up. On the gripping hand, both Niven and Pournelle are still around, maybe they could get a deal giving them fairly tight artistic control.
STILL WAITING for “The Stars My Destination”, the greatest science fiction film never made.
That would be pretty cool...
They really would have to include the outbreak of war in The Gripping Hand as well.
