Swarm of Earthquakes in Oklahoma [past 30 days
USGS Hazards [Earthquakes] ^ | 5-5-2014 | Vanity

Posted on 05/05/2014 12:17:43 PM PDT by topher

The URL shows the swarm of small earthquakes in Oklahoma. I have not heard any explanation for these.

The URL lists all 2.5+ earthquakes in the past 30 days. There is one just across the border in Kansas...

According to USGS, there are 123 Earthquakes in the past 30 days in the Oklahoma area.

These are all very small earthquakes or better termed tremors.

You have click on some options to ZOOM in on Oklahoma, and look just as those 123 Earthquakes.

You have to:

(1) Set the period to 30 days.

(2) Set to zoom in on Oklahoma

(3) Click on the map to Zoom in as much as you want...

It's all part of the Humboldt Fault Zone. I've been watching this too as it has become more active in the southern part.

The liberals have been saying that recent earthquakes hqve happened due to fracking.

Fracking is an earthquake stopper!

Fracking lubricates faults and causes them to slip slightly and more often. This decreases the chance of a large earthquake by relieving pressure on the fault.

Yay fracking!

Science!

I’m surprised the Rats haven’t stacked this on top of the minimum wage issue to rally their supporters, it’s such a load of hogwash.

From this link below
http://oilprice.com/Energy/Energy-General/Oklahoma-Scientist-to-Test-if-Fracking-Causes-Earthquakes.html

Stupid. Scientists have known since the ‘60s & ‘70s that injecting fluids into the ground causes ‘earth tremors’.

That there’s even a question that fracking is causing these earthquakes is beyond me, as I’ve known since I was a kid.

The problem is that the lefty enviroweanies jump on the fracking issue and use it against the oil companies. I’m not against fracking here in any way, just stating the facts. The issue of ‘what’ they inject into the ground is a whole other issue...

Yup, I see no mention of the old fault zone these seem to be coming from in the article, just a chance to blame fracking.

Nearly every year we get an article about the “swarm” of earthquakes in Oklahoma.

This year has been far, far worse though. OK has had as many earthquakes in about the first 3 months than it did all of last year, which was already alot for Oklahoma. I'm not trying to be an alarmist but it is cause for concern that this old fault zone has apparently gotten more active.
